A Visit to the Outfitter: Upgrades and Scouting

Players now have somewhere to improve their equipment. The Outfitter introduces permanent gathering upgrades and local scouting capabilities, bringing a new progression system to the frontier.

The latest development milestone gives players a new reason to visit the frontier's service settlements.

The Outfitter is now operational.

Players can visit an Outfitter to purchase upgrades using their available Gold and Supplies. These upgrades provide progression beyond simply accumulating larger resource balances.

The first upgrade categories focus on gathering and scouting.

Prospecting Gear improves Gold-gathering capabilities, while the Supply Wagon provides a corresponding progression path for Supplies.

Both systems use multiple upgrade levels, allowing players to invest in their economic development over time.

Scouting provides another important addition.

The Scout Detail introduces an expanded local view, while the Survey Crew extends that capability further.

Instead of revealing the entire world, scouting improves a player's awareness of their immediate surroundings. This preserves the hidden-world concept while giving players a useful reason to invest in exploration equipment.

The Outfitter also introduces a dedicated service interior, replacing the central location artwork with an interface appropriate to the building.

This milestone brings several parts of the game together: exploration provides resources, resources fund upgrades, and upgrades help players become more effective at exploring and gathering.

The frontier now has another meaningful destination, and players have additional decisions to make about how they spend what they collect.
