40,000 Locations: The Frontier Takes Shape
The first complete world for Claim the Range has been generated. A massive 200-by-200 landscape establishes the foundation for exploration, settlements, resources, and future player competition.
A major milestone has been reached in the development of Claim the Range: the game's first complete world has been generated and stored.
The frontier spans 200 by 200 coordinates, creating a total of 40,000 locations for players to explore.
Building a world this size involves considerably more than placing random terrain on a grid. Different locations need distinct identities, resources must be distributed according to the game's rules, and appropriate land must remain available for player Forts.
The world also uses a wraparound system. Traveling beyond one edge brings the player back onto the opposite side, allowing the frontier to function as a continuous environment.
For development, the initial world-generation system provides a repeatable layout that can be checked and verified rather than creating an unpredictable new landscape with every restart.
The first generated world has now been persisted, with its coordinates and location identities stored as the foundation for the game's ongoing development.
Players won't receive a traditional map revealing all 40,000 locations. Exploration remains central to the experience, and learning the frontier will be part of the challenge.
This milestone transforms the project from a collection of world-building rules into an actual landscape on which the rest of Claim the Range can be built.
